Memofy: Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for Memofy: Notes, Todo & Voice

This Privacy Policy describes how JAR Incorporated ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information in connection with your use of the Memofy: Notes, Todo & Voice (the "App").

Your privacy is critically important to us. This App is designed to help you organize your personal notes, tasks, and voice memos securely and efficiently. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy policy, or our practices with regard to your personal information, please contact us at developer.jar.inc@gmail.com.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

The App primarily processes and stores data locally on your device. We do not collect personal data directly from you for our own purposes, except as described below for third-party services.

a. User-Generated Content (Stored Locally)

The App allows you to create and manage various types of content. This content is stored directly on your device:

  • Text Notes: Any text, images, or other content you add to your notes.

  • Todo Lists: Items, statuses, and details of your todo lists.

  • Tasks: Task titles, descriptions, reminder settings (dates, times, recurrence patterns), and completion status.

  • Voice Memos: Audio recordings you create within the App. These audio files are stored locally on your device's external cache directory.

This user-generated content is yours. We do not access, collect, or transmit this content to our servers.

b. Information Collected via Third-Party Services

The App integrates with Google services to provide specific functionalities:

  • Google Sign-In (Authentication): When you choose to use the Google Drive Backup & Restore feature, you will be prompted to sign in with your Google account. This process is handled directly by Google. We receive a unique identifier for your Google account to link your backups, but we do not receive or store your Google account password or other sensitive authentication credentials. For more information on Google Sign-In, please refer to Google Sign-In documentation.

  • Google Drive API (Backup & Restore): If you opt to use the Google Drive Backup & Restore feature, the App will access your Google Drive to:

    • Create backups: Store encrypted copies of your App data (notes, todos, tasks, voice memo file paths) in a private application folder on your Google Drive. We do not access other files on your Google Drive.

    • Restore data: Retrieve your encrypted backup files from Google Drive to restore your App data to your device.

We do not access, view, or use your Google Drive files for any purpose other than facilitating your explicit backup and restore requests within the App. For more information on the Google Drive API, please refer to Google Drive API documentation.

  • Device Information (Non-Personal): We may collect non-personal device information such as device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for analytics purposes to improve app performance and user experience. This information is anonymized and aggregated and does not identify you personally.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information and content generated within the App are used solely for the purpose of providing the App's core functionalities to you:

  • To provide App functionality: Your notes, todos, tasks, and voice memos are used to display and manage your personal organization within the App.

  • To enable Backup & Restore: Your Google account identifier is used to associate your App data with your Google Drive for backup and restore operations, only when you explicitly initiate them.

  • To improve and maintain the App: Anonymized and aggregated device information may be used to analyze app usage patterns, identify bugs, and enhance future versions of the App.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: All your notes, todos, tasks, and voice memo files are primarily stored locally on your device. This means you have direct control over your data.

  • Google Drive Backup: If you enable the Google Drive Backup & Restore feature, your App data is stored in your private application folder on Google Drive. Google's robust security measures protect data stored on Google Drive. We recommend you review Google's privacy policy for more details on their data handling practices.

  • Security Measures: We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the security of any information processed by the App, especially when interacting with third-party services like Google Drive. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information or user-generated content with any third parties for their promotional purposes.

Your data is only shared with Google Drive when you explicitly initiate a backup or restore operation. This sharing is solely for the purpose of storing and retrieving your App data for your convenience.

5. Your Data Rights

Since your data is primarily stored locally on your device and, if opted-in, on your personal Google Drive, you have direct control over it:

  • Access and Modification: You can access and modify your notes, todos, tasks, and voice memos directly within the App at any time.

  • Deletion: You can delete your notes, todos, and tasks. The App includes a "Recently Deleted (Bin) System" allowing you to recover items for a limited period before permanent deletion. Voice memo files can be managed directly through your device's file system or by deleting the associated note within the App.

  • Backup Management: You can manage and delete your backups stored on Google Drive directly through your Google Drive account.

  • Google Account Disconnection: You can disconnect your Google account from the App at any time through the App's settings or your device's account settings.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
